Itinerary

Day 1: Port Clyde and Clark Island

One of our staff will meet you at our waterfront pick-up location to transfer you to the first hotel. From the hotel, you will enjoy a ride along coastal roads to the fishing village of Port Clyde and then onto the Marshall Point Light, made famous by Forrest Gump. Today’s itinerary leaves plenty of time to enjoy coastal views from the inn’s lawn or hike nearby Clark Island trails.

Day 2: Clark Island to Rockland

Begin your ride exploring the quiet town of Port Clyde before cycling to Birch Point State Park and the spectacular Owls Head Light as it stands guard over Penobscot Bay.  Your ride then takes you to the eclectic village of Rockland, home to the Farnsworth Museum of Art, which features an extensive collection of the art of the Wyeth Family, The Island Institute dedicated to preserving Maine’s Island communities, and many charming shops and galleries.

Day 3: Vinalhaven

You will enjoy great views of the Camden Hills and Rockland Harbor as you ride an early morning ferry to the island of Vinalhaven. Spend the day discovering the island, browsing downtown, and cycling up the island. Swim in an old granite quarry and glimpse what life on an island is like.

Day 4: Rockland to Camden

You have choices today. The ride from Rockland to Camden is only 10 miles.  Once there, choose either or both of the optional rides (cycle in the hills or through an oceanfront preserve) or get yourself cleaned up and wander the town.  Camden is one of the most picturesque towns on the Maine coast, featuring a well-sheltered harbor surrounded by hills lush with forests.  Other options include sailing, kayaking, or relaxing.

Day 5: Acadia’s Carriage Roads

The morning will start with one of our staff driving you from Camden to Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia National Park. Picture breathtaking scenery, gentle grades, and car-free cycling, and you have Acadia’s famous Carriage Roads. A gift of John D. Rockefeller to help the people of America enjoy Acadia’s beauty, the Carriage Roads offer the opportunity to cycle through stately forests of pine and birch and to enjoy panoramic views of Mount Desert Island.

Day 6: The Schoodic Peninsula

Today, you enjoy a unique ferry ride across Frenchman Bay to Winter Harbor and the Schoodic Peninsula. Experience the dramatic power of the open ocean as it crashes along the Schoodic’s rugged shore before cycling to a working lobstering community.

Cycling: 30 miles elevation gain 1, 559 ft Meals: The Sand Bar Cottage Inn

Day 7: Cycling Acadia National Park

End a memorable week by cycling Acadia National Park’s famous Park Loop Road as it winds along the shore of Mount Desert Island, and end with an optional climb up Cadillac Mountain before an 11:30 am transfer to Portland.
Cycling Options: 10 or 28 miles. Elevation gain 578-2,532 ft ft. Meals: Breakfast

Conditions

Deposit $500.- pp
The deposit payment for a tour must be paid within two weeks after the booking is confirmed.
The remaining payment is due 90 days before the start of the tour.
For tours that are booked within 90 days before the start of the tour you will pay 100% of the tour price

We want to share the entire experience with you. Our tours are personalized and include time to explore picturesque places on your bike as well as off. We’ll show you the best spots to watch the sunset, take in an area’s unique history, or local cuisine. We arrange every detail from personally selecting the charming inns to identifying the best restaurants. Tours are available for all ages and abilities.
