Itinerary

Alaskan Golden Circle – SG

For experienced cyclists and wilderness travelers, you set your own schedule and leave the gear to us. This package includes a Surly Long Haul Trucker touring bike, or a similar flat bar bike with appropriate fenders and racks for a long-distance tour. You choose between a bike rack & panniers or a BOB trailer. In addition, we provide a tent, sleeping bag & pad, stove, repair kit, and information on the route. You are responsible for your lodging and food.

Upon your arrival in Haines, we will make any final adjustments to your bike and gear and familiarize you with town and the route. There are camping, lodging, restaurant and grocery store options in Haines.
After departing Haines, the first leg is 160 miles to Haines Junction, Yukon. You’ll intersect the Alaska-Canadian Highway and travel 100 miles East to Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon.
From Whitehorse you head East for 20 miles on the ALCAN, then turn onto the Klondike Highway and ride 90 miles to its terminus in Skagway, Alaska.
Once in Skagway, you can return your bike and camping equipment at our Skagway Shop and we’ll take care of transport back to Haines. We can also transfer any of your luggage or gear between shops while you ride.

Along the route you camp and cook your own meals using the gear we provide. You have the option to eat out and stay at lodging facilities on some days along the route. The seven days of biking traverses 360 miles of the most scenic country in the world. For the independent bicycle adventurer this is a great way to explore the region on your own.

Lodging

There are plenty of campsites and a few B&B’s and lodges to choose from along the way if you prefer indoor accommodations at your own expense

Included:

• Surly Long Haul Trucker, touring bicycle equipped with front/rear racks, 4 panniers and handlebar bag (or a BOB trailer) and a helmet.
• Camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag, pad, cook kit, camp stove, bear canister for food storage)
• We also take care of transporting the bike and gear and any luggage you may have between our shops so you don’t need to return back to Haines (unless you want to!).

Not included:

• Transportation to Haines and from Skagway.
• All meals.
• Any camping fees or lodging along the route.
• Transportation or emergency service along the the route.
• There are camping options each day, or we are happy to help with suggestions for reservations at local cabins, Inn’s, and B&B’s.

Pricing / Tour dates

Tour price 2025: $499.- for solo riders $899.- for a group of two (sharing tent, cook kit, etc.)
Tour date:
Between June 1 and September 15 the tour can start on any day.

Conditions

Deposit 25%
The deposit payment for a tour must be paid within two weeks after the booking is confirmed.
The remaining payment is due 90 days before the start of the tour.
For tours that are booked within 90 days before the start of the tour you will pay 100% of the tour price

Information

Arrival | Haines AK. Alaska Seaplanes or the Alaska Marine Highway System from Juneau are the most common arrival methods.

Departure | Skagway AK. Alaska Seaplanes or the Alaska Marine Highway System are also the best way back to Juneau for departing flights..
