Itinerary

Most of the area around Nome is Arctic Tundra, characterized by low shrubs, mosses, sedges, and lichens blanketing the mountainsides and valleys. There are no trees near Nome, and just a few in the area, creating long distance views all around.
Nome is home to an abundance of wildlife, including moose, bear, and muskox traversing the tundra and thousands of migrating birds overhead. Over 160 species of migratory birds transit the area, with August being a particularly good time to view many on their south-bound journey.
Nome is also the home to the headquarters of the Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, with a long history of human habitation. From a subsistence lifestyle to music and art, Alaska Native culture is vibrant in Nome. In addition, the gold rush of 1900 contributed to Nome’s colorful history, with many types of gold mining still occurring to this day.
The Bike Nome trip is based around days cycling through the tundra landscape. Throughout the trip, we work with local businesses, restaurants, and residents to include additional activities and experiences to create an unforgettable experience for visitors to this unique place.

Day 1 – 2:

We’ll start our tour by exploring Nome and the local history and culture. This includes a few nights staying in Nome and a visit to the remote village of Teller.

Day 3 – 4:

Next, we’ll ride out along the coastline through prime migratory bird habitat. We’ll spend two nights out by ourselves in an old schoolhouse turned B&B.

Day 5 – 6:

From here, we’ll explore the Kougarok Road and visit Pilgrim Hot Springs before a final night in town before departure.

The Seward Peninsula is known for quickly changing weather conditions. Our itinerary is designed for some flexibility with this in mind.

Lodging

Bike Nome

While in Nome, we’ll use the Dredge 7 Inn.

We will also spend 2 nights about 30 miles out of town at the Solomon B&B.

Included:

• Lodging and meals.
• Salsa Journeyer Gravel Road bikes (flat-bar or drop-bar available). (E-bikes not available at this time)

• Our tours do not include airfare or travel to the arrival and departure points

Deposit 25%
The deposit payment for a tour must be paid within two weeks after the booking is confirmed.
The remaining payment is due 90 days before the start of the tour.
For tours that are booked within 90 days before the start of the tour you will pay 100% of the tour price
