Itinerary

Elevation Range: 2,000 – 3,000 ft.

Day 1: CCC Trailhead & New Singletrack

We meet in Medora and then shuttle for about an hour. At the CCC Trailhead, we have lunch and go through a quick safety orientation before riding a prime-cut section of the Maah Daah Hey. This out-and-back is a great sampling of the Badlands and a perfect warm-up! Then it’s into the van for a short shuttle to our camp for the night.

Day 2: Bennett Trail or Cottonwood Trail

Today we will ride the Bennett Trail or the brand new Cottonwood Trail, before joining the Maah Daah Hey Trail. We track south through high prairie grasses and wooded draws. When we reach Beicigel Creek Road, we stop to meet the van and enjoy lunch before continuing on to Magpie Campground.

Day 3: Devil’s Pass, Little Missouri River

As we make our way to Devil’s Pass it’s hard to believe that this trail was once an old cattle road; nowadays it’s is a fairly narrow passage for us. We reach a crest and are treated to fantastic views as we peer out across the Little Missouri River Valley. From here we drop down, eventually reaching the foot of the river itself; a quick wade brings us to the other side. Riding on, we meander through shady cottonwoods and climb up to the van and our lunch spot. After the break, eight more rolling miles bring us to our camp near Teddy’s own Elkhorn Ranch.

Day 4: Buffalo Gap to Wannagan Creek

Today we enjoy ripping fast descents on buff singletrack mixed with shaded, sustained climbs as the trail winds though juniper and ash trees. We also weave our way though ancient sun-bleached stumps of petrified Cypress trees before descending to our camp near Wannagan Creek.

Day 5: Buffalo Gap & South Unit

After breakfast, we will skirt the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and link up with the Buffalo Gap Trail. This trail leads us back to “civilization” in the funky Wild West town of Medora. We’ll finish the tour with lunch at a local park.

Lodging

We choose well-maintained public campgrounds with scenic vistas and comfortable arrangements. You’ll move seamlessly from one day of your trip to the next, camping outdoors and enjoying wildly healthy, delicious homemade meals.

The majority of our selected campgrounds feature indoor facilities and showers. Conversely, in more remote backcountry camping scenarios, we’ll provide portable toilets and private solar showers.

Included:

• Meals (except where noted on itineraries), snacks, non-alcoholic beverages,
• Community gear (portable chairs, large awnings, coolers, utensils, etc.)
• Backcountry permits, licenses, park fees, reservations, and accommodations (lodging)
• At least two professionally trained trip leaders, a mobile first aid and mechanic station, spare bikes, and a support vehicle(s).

Not included:

• Airfare to and from our departure point,
• Lodging before or after the tour,
• Personal camping gear, possible to rent $108.-
• Rental bike,

Camp gear package rental: includes a tent, sleeping pad, raised cot, sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, full size pillow, and ground tarp. $ 108.-

Conditions

Deposit $500.- pp
The deposit payment for a tour must be paid within two weeks after the booking is confirmed.
The remaining payment is due 90 days before the start of the tour.
For tours that are booked within 90 days before the start of the tour you will pay 100% of the tour price

Information

Our food isn’t just good, it’s good for you.

Food is a big part of the experience. Our guides prepare all of your meals on our camping trips. Expect three delicious meals a day consisting entirely of freshly prepared foods. These include fresh organic fruits and vegetables as well as meats. We also have energy snacks aboard our support vehicles. Don’t be surprised if your guides purchase fresh fruits and healthy snacks throughout the day while you are out riding. They may just show up on the trail with a local treat! Many of our guests are vegans or vegetarians, whom we are more than happy to accommodate. If you have special diet requirements or limitations, just let us know when you sign-up and we’ll work with you to meet your needs.
